Blood ä Comes Up Positive on TEN

Total Entertainment Networkä Delivers Internet's Fastest Nationwide Blood Experience

Total Entertainment Networkä (TEN) today announced that effective immediately, both the shareware and full retail versions of GT Interactive Software's Blood ä are supported on the TEN network, and have been optimized for superior performance versus other online solutions.  Developed by Monolith Productions, Blood is a first-person, fast-action shooter based on the advanced version of the Duke Nukem 3D Build Engine, and is the third GT Interactive action game to land on TEN.

Thanks to one of TEN's proprietary latency-reducing technologies known as BULLET, Blood on TEN is expected to offer considerably faster and more stable gameplay than on other multiplayer gaming sites and services.  BULLET-enhanced servers can support smooth play even over congested Internet links.

"We've successfully applied performance-enhancing technology to fast-action games in the past, a great example being our DART technology and the effect it had on Quake," said Bill Lipa, Chief Software Architect at TEN. "In terms of nationwide online gaming, Quake on TEN is now considerably faster and smoother than alternative solutions.  Our tests indicate that the difference between 'regular' Blood and BULLET-enhanced Blood is even more dramatic."

Besides BULLET, TEN also has the advantage of knowing the Duke Nukem 3D Build Engine, which Blood uses, better than any other online gaming service, as well as having game servers that are specifically optimized to handle data packets in that form.  In particular, the bandwidth used to transmit the game data over TEN has been reduced by more than 80 percent.

As always, TEN will be conducting a series of "orientations" around the launch of Blood, focusing on installation of the game, navigation through the recently introduced TEN 1.2, and Blood gameplay tips.  TEN and Blood merchandise will be awarded through random drawings, and everyone attending one of the orientations is eligible to win.  Orientations take place on:

Thursday, 5/29,  4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Friday, 5/30, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, 5/31,  Noon - 4:00 p.m.Saturday, 6/7, Noon - 4:00 p.m.
