Total Entertainment Networkä Secures Exclusive With Myth: The Fallen Lords

Highly Anticipated 3D Real-Time Strategy Title Will Appear Only on TEN

SAN FRANCISCO   June 12, 1997   Total Entertainment Networkä (TEN), the market and technology leader in online multiplayer gaming, today announced that it has secured the exclusive commercial online rights to Bungie Software's Myth: The Fallen Lords.  A cross-genre title from the makers of the award-winning Marathon series, Myth is part melee-style combat and part real-time strategy game, a combination that is expected to attract fans of both game categories.  The title's uniquely unrestricted point of view, innovative character classes, and "in-the-trenches" battlefield action combine to make Myth an incredible single-player game with unlimited multiplayer potential.  Myth: The Fallen Lords will be available on TEN when it ships this Fall.

"Securing the exclusive commercial online rights to one of the most anticipated strategy/combat games of 1997 is another huge triumph for us," said Jack Heistand, president and CEO of TEN.  "One of the few generally agreed-upon concepts in the online gaming sector is that content will drive the market.  With Myth, TEN has firmly established itself as the sole online provider of much of the best content on the market this year.  With a confusing range of online gaming options to choose from, consumers need specific, compelling reasons to pick one over the others. TEN continues to be the elite destination for exclusive, major-league hits."

As Bungie's CEO Alexander Seropian explains, "We've always been impressed  with TEN as a provider of more than just game brokering. Multiplayer games are fun because they're social, and TEN ensures that players will  have not only a lowlatency environment for gaming, but a dedicated community of other gamers. Multiplayer gaming is a big part of Myth: The Fallen Lords, and we needed a strong commercial partner to complement our own online game server; TEN was an easy choice."

TEN and Bungie are committed to a strong joint marketing effort, leveraging each others' strengths and presence in the online and retail communities, respectively.  Bungie will showcase Myth in its booth at E
3 (Booth #324, West Hall).

The dynamic 3D game engine Bungie has developed for Myth: The Fallen Lords, complete with camera views that zoom, pan, and rotate in any direction, delivers an in-the-trenches sensation that unites the visceral charge of an action game with the lofty perspective of a strategy title.  Gory, lushly-rendered battlefield landscapes are populated by a host of mythical troops such as Ghols, Wights, Thrall and Skrael, to name just a few.

Myth's extremely open and flexible architecture promises to create innumerable battle strategies in online multiplayer mode, and gives gamers unprecedented control over the formation, movement and even specific actions of different troops.  Indeed, players will be able to affect almost every level of the game's execution, including the creation of entire maps, certain game rules, and multiplayer scenarios such as King of the Hill and Capture the Flag, even in teams.

Total Entertainment Network is the premier entertainment network for game playing consumers on the Internet.  TEN has online rights to more than 30 games  half of which are TEN exclusives  by leading software publishers including 3D Realms Entertainment, Accolade, Apogee, Blizzard, Eidos Interactive, id Software, GT Interactive, MicroProse, Sierra On-Line/Papyrus, SSI and Westwood Studios.  Based in San Francisco, TEN was formed in 1995 from the merger of Outland, Inc. and Planet Optigon, Inc.  TEN received its initial funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, with subsequent investors including  Ameritech; Goldman Sachs; Robertson, Stephens & Co.; Vertex Management; and Wasserstein Perella Ventures.
